John Denver was a superstar singer who touched millions by his popular-folk hits Many of them were inspired by Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born Henry John Deutschedorf in Roswell in New Mexico, was in Love with Colorado. He moved to Aspen. Denver's anthems for his adopted state have drawn many to Colorado. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame says that John Denver is unlike any other musician who represents Colorado. Denver was the Hall of Fame's first to be inducted into the hall. Denver is today the international face of Colorado. Certainly in my travels you encounter someone on the other side of the world someone from New Zealand and you say "I'm from Colorado and the first thing out of their mouth is Oh John Denver! Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief time as a folk musician and was his debut Top 10 solo hit. Danoff wrote the tune inspired by Johnny Cash, but Denver could hear an early version and knew it would become a top 10 hit. Danoff recorded the track only a few days afterward after performing it to an enthusiastic audience in Washington D.C.
